Quality, not KitschJun 01, 2010

"These are elegant Route 66 cufflinks." When I described them that way, my 27-year old son said, "Isn't that an oxymoron?" He assumed that anything a souvenir of Route 66 must be tacky kitsch. He had earned the right to that opinion, since he and I had traveled the length of Route 66 together some years previously. When he saw the cufflinks, though, he changed his mind. Not only are they good quality cufflinks (they're sturdy and I expect they'll last), but they look nice without being garish. Being primarily black and white, they can go with just about any color shirt. I recommend them to Route 66 aficionados that wear shirts with French cuffs. There must be more than me out there.
